Doug Brown
specializes in defense of workers' compensation and professional and general
liability claims against employers, premises owners, pharmacists, product
manufacturers and others in jury trials and non-jury proceedings throughout
Alabama and the Southeast. He has been listed in Best Lawyers in
America in both Workers’ Compensation and Admiralty and Maritime Law for
over ten years. A member of the International Association of Defense
Counsel and the Defense Research Institute, Mr. Brown has been a speaker at continuing
education programs sponsored by bar associations and law schools on topics
concerning developments in trial practice, the Longshore and Harbor Workers’
Compensation Act, and the Alabama Workers’ Compensation Act. He is one
of numerous lawyers in Mobile County who offer their time in pro bono work to
the Mobile Bar Association’s Volunteer Lawyers Program to assist low income
individuals with their legal needs.
During his 39 years of the practice of law, Mr. Brown has tried more than one hundred cases in state and federal courts in Alabama, before administrative agencies and arbitration panels, and is a frequent mediator for longshore and workers' compensation claims. He also was the lead trial counsel representing pharmacies in phen-fen litigation, obtaining a summary judgment in favor of pharmacists in almost two hundred cases.
